What is Vedic Mathematics?
Vedic Maths is the name given to the ancient system of mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas by Shri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji. It is based on sixteen sutras and about thirteen sub-sutras, which contain the secrets of quick calculation and help in solving mathematical problems mentally.
What is this course all about?
"An Introduction to the Principles of Vedic Mathematics" teaches students simple word-formulae to solve complicated sums. The idea is to do away with a negative mindset towards maths and create curiosity and excitement about numbers, offering a fresh and easy approach to number crunching.
How does this course benefit the student?
'Difficult' problems or huge sums can often be solved immediately through direct and easy methods, 10–15 times faster. Students practise a flexible, mental system and can invent their own methods, which makes them more creative and confident. It encourages intelligent guessing, reduces scratch work and finger counting, and increases concentration.
What is the best age to start?
A Vedic technique should be taught only after a student has understood the traditional method taught in school. The ideal age to start is the 3rd or 4th grade (7 to 8 years old), once the student has understood basic arithmetic.
